Republicans won significant victories in Florida's recent special elections, with Randy Fine and Jimmy Patronis emerging as the winners. Randy Fine, endorsed by Trump, took the 6th Congressional District seat, which was left open by Mike Waltz after he became President Donald Trump's national security adviser.
Fine's win was notable as he overcame being significantly outspent, garnering less than $1 million against Weil's $9 million. President Trump expressed his congratulations on Truth Social, writing, "RANDY FINE WINS!!!" and mentioning the financial challenges Fine faced in his campaign.
Jimmy Patronis, Florida’s Chief Financial Officer, won in the 1st Congressional District after former Representative Matt Gaetz stepped down. Despite being outspent by his opponent, Gay Valimont, Patronis won with 57% of the vote. Trump also acknowledged Patronis's achievement on Truth Social, writing, "Jimmy Patronis WINS BIG! Congratulations Jimmy."
Trump's endorsements were influential in both elections. Currently, the U.S. House of Representatives is composed of 220 Republicans and 213 Democrats, with two seats yet to be filled following the deaths of Democratic Representatives Sylvester Turner and Raúl Grijalva.
