David Hogg's gun control organization, March for Our Lives, established after the Parkland school shooting, has laid off most of its full-time staff. The group announced last week that it would part ways with 13 of its 16 full-time staff members and has appointed a new executive director amid financial challenges.

Jaclyn Corin, a 24-year-old Parkland survivor and co-founder of March for Our Lives, is the newly appointed head. Corin commented to The 19th news outlet about the decision, saying: “We are facing financial challenges as an organization, not unlike many nonprofit advocacy organizations in this time. I am sure things would look differently with a different outcome of the election, but these are the systems and circumstances in which we have to make adjustments based on the financial situation we find ourselves in. It is incredibly unfortunate that these cuts have to happen.”

The layoffs represent a substantial reduction for one of the prominent gun-control groups in the United States, potentially affecting its influence ahead of the upcoming midterm elections. This reduction is viewed as part of a broader decline following the group's initial success.

March for Our Lives was distinctive in its focus on engaging younger Americans in gun control advocacy, achieving significant impact and financial contributions initially.

Corin's leadership follows a period marked by a reduced profile and operational setbacks for the group, which was a standout in the gun control movement due to its dedication to youth involvement and activism.
