Two months ago, comedian Adam Carolla predicted difficulties in the rebuilding process following the California wildfires due to state policies. He anticipated challenges in obtaining building permits.

Seventy-five days after the fires, only four building permits have been issued for Pacific Palisades. This figure contrasts sharply with expectations and highlights potential issues in the recovery process.

ABC 7 Los Angeles reported that the low number of permits is "concerning," according to a city council member. Residents affected by the Palisades Fire face hurdles, including navigating the city's permitting system and dealing with budget constraints.

At a City Council committee hearing, residents expressed their desire to move forward. Jessica Rogers, president of the Pacific Palisades Residents Association, stated, "The blessing here is that we have been given an opportunity to show the world how you do disaster relief and rebuilding effectively."

A video report from ABC 7 detailed that only four permits had been issued despite over 6,000 homes being destroyed by the fires. Concerns were raised about the pace of reconstruction and leadership in California.

In January, President Donald Trump criticized Mayor Karen Bass for delays in allowing evacuated residents to return and rebuild their homes post-wildfire. During his visit to Los Angeles shortly after his inauguration, Trump pointed out discrepancies between public assurances and residents' experiences regarding rebuilding timelines.
