Evacuations were in progress as a large wildfire spread uncontrollably, engulfing homes in Pacific Palisades, California, on Tuesday. Several fires are currently active in Los Angeles County, including those in Pacific Palisades, Eaton, Bert, Sylmar, Tamarack, and King.

Thousands have been evacuated as the fire has expanded to over 2,900 acres, according to The Los Angeles Times. Strong Santa Ana winds have carried embers across the area, making it difficult for firefighters to manage the blaze. Accuweather reports that wind gusts are expected to exceed 85 miles per hour overnight.

In Pasadena, nursing home patients were quickly moved across streets as the fire spread rapidly due to strong winds. Caretakers swiftly transported elderly residents from the Terraces at Park Marino across the street to safety.

Mandatory evacuations were implemented in Pasadena as multiple homes caught fire in Altadena due to the expanding Eaton Fire. Crews worked urgently to evacuate elderly patients from a care home surrounded by embers and smoke.

The fire also affected a hillside near Pasadena.
