Trump border czar Tom Homan recently addressed a crowd in Chicago, where he discussed plans for deportations to commence in the city. The event was organized by a local law enforcement group and attracted a supportive audience, despite Chicago's reputation as a Democratic stronghold.
ABC News reported on Homan's appearance in Portage Park, where he criticized the city's mayor and Illinois governor for opposing his deportation plans. Homan emphasized that these actions would begin on January 21. "All that starts January 21, and we’re going to start right here in Chicago, Illinois," Homan stated.
Chicago GOP Chairman Chuck Hernandez expressed support for Homan's plan, saying, "I love it. I love it. Bring it. People need to know that this is a country with laws, and we’re going to have order."
A video clip shared on social media showed Homan making critical remarks about local leaders: “Your mayor [@ChicagosMayor] sucks and your governor [@GovPritzker] sucks.”
Despite ABC News suggesting that such views are primarily Republican-held, recent events indicate broader frustration within the city. A city council meeting featured residents expressing anger over illegal immigration amidst financial challenges faced by Chicago.
