The DeKalb County School District (DCSD) held its 11th Annual Academy of Educational Excellence Awards Gala on November 2 at the Georgia World Congress Center. The event recognized outstanding educators and support staff, highlighting their contributions to the district.
During the gala, five exceptional districtwide winners were announced from among the school-level employees of the year. Superintendent Dr. Devon Q. Horton acknowledged these honorees and their colleagues for their achievements over the past year.
“As I look back over this past school year and look at what the district has been able to accomplish, I can go on and on about the success of individual teachers, individual schools, areas, and collectively as a district,” said Dr. Horton.
“Collectively, we are making some significant moves and significant noise in the K-12 space, and it is because of the individuals sitting in this room,” Dr. Horton adds. “We appreciate all that you do.”
The annual gala serves to celebrate DCSD’s educators and support staff for their hard work, dedication, and successes. These individuals have played a crucial role in advancing DCSD’s mission by implementing innovative teaching methods and providing leadership.
