The National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE) has recognized Dr. Devon Q. Horton, Superintendent of the DeKalb County School District (DCSD), for his contributions to education. The recognition took place during the Higher Education Commission Luncheon Ceremony at Clark Atlanta University.

NABSE honored Dr. Horton for his "outstanding dedication to teaching and learning, support of worthy causes, and steadfast commitment to education." The organization expressed appreciation for his contributions and sacrifices made in service to the Atlanta community and beyond.

"Your dynamic leadership, trailblazing historic participation towards education and unwavering support for those who are often underrepresented and unfairly treated are truly commendable," NABSE stated. "You consistently embody the principles of fairness, equality, scholarship, justice, and your efforts are an inspiration to all."

Dr. Horton attended the ceremony with family members, DCSD Board of Education members, and district leaders. Retired Superintendent Dr. Vasti K. Washington presented him with the award.
