During a segment on CNN, host Abby Phillip made claims regarding Elon Musk's views on Social Security and Medicaid that were swiftly challenged by former Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. Phillip suggested that Musk, in association with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), had spoken about cutting these benefits at a recent town hall event in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Walker, who was participating in the segment, corrected Phillip, emphasizing Musk's stance: “Actually, he never talked about that. He explicitly said in Green Bay he would not cut Social Security. That’s exactly what he said.”

The discussion turned into a debate, with Phillip maintaining her stance, citing Musk's previous rallies. Walker refuted this, stating: “No, no. Other people said that. But I was there. I watched him. He did not say he was going to cut Medicaid.”

This exchange between Phillip and Walker sparked interest in verifying facts presented in the media. Shortly after, Walker took to Twitter to underscore his presence at Musk's rally, writing: "You can’t lie on LIVE television without me fact checking you."

The issue attracted additional media attention, with the Gateway Pundit referencing Musk's recent rally in support of Judge Brad Schimel’s bid for the Wisconsin Supreme Court. According to the report, Musk made his position clear during the event, stating, “DOGE will make sure you get your Social Security. DOGE will make sure you get your Medicaid. There will be no cuts to legitimate payments—whatsoever.”

The incident highlights ongoing debates about media accuracy and representation of political figures' statements, particularly when it comes to sensitive topics like Social Security and Medicaid. Walker's intervention during the broadcast underscores the importance of real-time fact-checking in the current media landscape.
