Megyn Kelly recently addressed the deportation case of Mahmoud Khalil, a Columbia University graduate involved in pro-Hamas activities. On her podcast, Kelly discussed Khalil's participation in protests and other actions at the university.
Kelly supported Secretary of State Marco Rubio's decision to identify Khalil as a threat, stating that deportation is justified. She highlighted a broader issue within higher education where individuals exploit U.S. privileges for adverse purposes.
“He got a golden ticket into the United States of America. We gave him a student visa, he got into one of our most prestigious universities," Kelly remarked. She criticized Khalil for aligning with a pro-Hamas group and distributing related materials on campus.
Kelly noted that despite having temporary status and a green card, Khalil engaged actively with the organization, failing to maintain decorum long enough to secure citizenship. “It was that important to him. And so, by his own admission, he was a spokesperson for the group,” she added.
The podcast featured footage of protests at Columbia University led by Khalil’s group. In closing remarks, Kelly wished Khalil well with “enjoy Syria!”
Footage also surfaced showing Khalil's arrest by an officer in plain clothes wearing an Avengers t-shirt. During the arrest, Khalil asked his wife to "Call Amy," indicating prior contact regarding his situation.
The situation underscores changing attitudes towards such activities in academic settings.
