Jagmeet Singh, leader of Canada's New Democratic Party (NDP) and a candidate for Prime Minister, recently addressed former U.S. President Donald Trump in a video posted on his X account. Singh expressed strong opposition to Trump's comments about Canada.

In the video, Singh stated, "I have a message for Donald Trump. Our country’s not for sale. Not now. Not ever." He emphasized Canadian pride and readiness to defend the nation, saying, "I lived across this country and I can tell you: Canadians are a proud people. We’re proud of our country and we’re ready to fight like hell to defend it."

Singh highlighted the assistance provided by Canadian firefighters during California's wildfires as an example of Canada's supportive nature before warning Trump, "If you think you can pick a fight with us, there will be a price to pay!"

The NDP leader further mentioned his commitment to imposing retaliatory tariffs on the United States if he becomes Prime Minister and urged other candidates to adopt similar measures.

The video concludes with Singh reiterating that while Canada values its relationship with its neighbor, any conflict would come at a cost: "We're good neighbours. But, if you pick a fight with Canada – there will be a price to pay."
