DeKalb County recently held its “Spring Forward” Beautification and Code Compliance Town Hall. The aim of the event was to boost community pride, encourage clean environments, and foster engagement among residents of the county to maintain its aesthetic appeal.

The town hall was organized as a lunch-and-learn session, focusing on the county's initiatives to sustain a clean and healthy environment. Officials emphasized education and connection, offering attendees the necessary tools and resources to make positive contributions to their neighborhoods.

Lorraine Cochran-Johnson, the CEO of DeKalb County, highlighted her dedication to improving community spaces. "As CEO, I am committed to working together to build clean streets and safe spaces we can all be proud of," she stated. "This is a shared responsibility. The people of DeKalb deserve a beautiful community that enhances their quality of life."

Both CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson and COO Zach Williams delivered remarks at the event. Numerous county departments contributed information and materials, with presentations by Tracy Hutchinson, director of sanitation and beautification, and Tim Hardy, deputy director of code compliance.

Tracy Hutchinson appreciated being a part of the initiative. “It was an honor to be invited by Madam CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson to join this important effort,” Hutchinson remarked. “Beautification is more than just cleaning up — it’s about building pride, strengthening neighborhoods, and working together to create a cleaner, safer, and more vibrant DeKalb.”
