DeKalb County has announced the launch of its 2025 Summer Youth Employment Program (DSYEP), a collaborative initiative led by CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson in partnership with the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners and WorkSource DeKalb. The program aims to provide work experience and professional growth for 350 young individuals in fields such as healthcare, education, technology, retail, and government.

Running from June 2 to July 3, the program offers a competitive compensation of $15 per hour, with interns working up to 24 hours per week, Monday through Thursday. Participants will be selected through a random lottery system to ensure fairness and opportunity. Registration is open from April 10, 2025, until April 20, 2025, and can be completed online.

To qualify, applicants must be residents of DeKalb County, aged between 16 and 21, and must pass a drug screening and background check.

“Our youth are the architects of tomorrow, and it’s our responsibility to equip them with the foundation to build bold, bright futures,” stated CEO Cochran-Johnson. “Through this program, we’re not just offering jobs — we’re investing in dreams, potential, and the long-term prosperity of our community.”
