DeKalb County District 4 Commissioner Chakira Johnson is set to hold her inaugural "Community Connection" breakfast meeting for 2025. The gathering is scheduled for Saturday, April 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the East Central DeKalb Community & Senior Center, located at 4885 Elam Road, Stone Mountain, GA 30083. This event aims to connect with constituents, provide updates, and give community members the chance to voice their questions and concerns.

Commissioner Johnson, who took office on January 1, 2025, is a Georgia Tech graduate and licensed engineer with over two decades of experience in both the private sector and local government. Her professional background includes 16 years on the Stone Mountain City Council, with 12 years as mayor pro tem, and she holds engineering licenses in three states, including Georgia. Johnson plans to apply her civil engineering knowledge to benefit DeKalb County residents.

During the meeting, Commissioner Johnson will outline her 2025 goals for District 4, present her vision for the year, and discuss plans for addressing significant community issues.

The event will feature a keynote address by Maria Houser, Director of Environmental Compliance, Capital Improvement Program (CIP), and Consent Decree for DeKalb County. Ms. Houser will speak on her role in managing the $1.5 billion improvements to the county's sanitary sewer system, an initiative stemming from the Consent Decree aimed at maintaining infrastructure and environmental health.

Additionally, representatives from various DeKalb County service departments, such as Sanitation, Roads & Drainage, Law Enforcement, and Code Compliance, will be available to provide updates and address community questions.

Breakfast will be available until supplies last, and constituents are encouraged to attend to learn more about ongoing projects and engage with local leaders.
