Elon Musk has confirmed that he offered to return astronauts stranded on the International Space Station earlier than planned, but his proposal was turned down by the Biden administration. Musk appeared on the Sean Hannity show, where he stated, “We definitely offered to return the astronauts earlier, there’s no question about that. The astronauts were only supposed to be there for eight days and they’ve been there for ten months. So obviously that doesn’t make sense, SpaceX could have brought the astronauts back after a few months at most and we made that offer to the Biden administration. It was rejected for political reasons and that’s just a fact.”

The New York Post reported two weeks ago about one of the NASA astronauts confirming Musk's claim. Barry “Butch” Wilmore commented during an in-orbit press conference with fellow astronaut Sunita Williams about their prolonged stay on the ISS due to a malfunction in their Boeing Starliner capsule.

The situation has raised questions regarding the decision-making process within the Biden administration concerning space missions and international cooperation.
