Nicole Jones, an administrative assistant at John R. Lewis Elementary School, has been recognized as the 2024-2025 Educational Support Professional I of the Year (ESPOTY I) by the DeKalb County School District (DCSD). She received this honor at the District’s 11th Annual Academy of Educational Excellence Awards Gala last November.

Jones, who began her career as an administrative assistant at age 15 and has worked professionally in the role for a decade, joined DCSD six years ago after seeing an opportunity to further serve her school community. "When I saw the vacancy posting, I immediately recognized it as the perfect opportunity to contribute in a new way, and I knew it was the right fit for me," said Ms. Jones.

Her contributions have not gone unnoticed within her community. "I am proud to represent the district and remain committed to making a positive impact every day," she stated. Principal Dr. Renita McMillan praised Jones for her dedication: "Ms. Jones is the heartbeat of John R. Lewis Elementary School."

Jones is known for going beyond her duties, supporting students even outside school hours. "The students absolutely love her," said Dr. McMillan.

Jones also expressed gratitude towards Dr. McMillan's influence on her life: "Her wisdom and guidance, along with the values instilled in me by my parents, have been invaluable."

As she continues her work with DCSD, Jones remains focused on professional growth and serving as a positive role model for students.
