Sarv Dharavane, an 11-year-old student from Austin Elementary School, has once again secured a spot in the Scripps National Spelling Bee Championships. He achieved this by winning the 64th Annual Georgia Association of Educators State Spelling Bee, marking his second consecutive state title.

Dharavane emerged victorious after 14 rounds of competition. In the final round, he successfully spelled "Berghaan" and "Compas," defeating seventh-grader Sara Daoud from Greenbrier Middle School in Columbia County.

Both students will represent Georgia at the national event scheduled to take place in National Harbor, Maryland, from May 26 to May 30, 2025.

Reflecting on his win, Dharavane shared his thought process when he was given the word "Compas." He stated: “About 50 options came to mind,” adding that after requesting more information, he proceeded with spelling and was thrilled to hear he was correct. “I couldn’t believe it! I’m sure these next two months will fly by.”

As part of his victory rewards, Dharavane received an all-expenses-paid trip to the national bee and a $1,000 cash prize. Additionally, he won an Apple iPad Mini, a $50 gift card to Best Buy in Cumming, GA, an online subscription to a dictionary for one year, a 2025 U.S. Mint Proof Set, and a GAE Bee Champion lapel pin.
