Michelle Long Spears District 2 Commissioner | DeKalb County
DeKalb County is set to open four warming centers on the nights of March 1 and 2 in response to anticipated cold weather. The centers will begin operations at 8 p.m. and are located at Frontline Response International in Atlanta, North DeKalb Senior/Community Center in Chamblee, Mason Mill Recreation Center in Decatur, and Exchange Park Intergeneration Center also in Decatur.
Transportation services will be available to take residents from various locations to Frontline Response International, where centralized services such as hot meals, beds, and case management are provided. The transportation schedule includes pickups from Chamblee Library, North DeKalb Senior/Community Center, Mason Mill Recreation Center, Avondale Fire Station No. 3, a location on Candler Rd., D&K Suit City Parking Lot in Stone Mountain, Wesley Chapel Rd., and Exchange Park Intergeneration Center.
Frontline Response International has been contracted by the county for these services during extreme weather conditions. This setup differs from traditional warming centers by offering comprehensive support at a single location.
Residents needing homelessness assistance or housing services can reach out to DeKalb County Coordinated Entry at (404) 687-3500. Additional information about the centers is available on the county's website.
