Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino has been appointed as the Deputy Director of the FBI. The announcement was made on Sunday, marking a significant change in the bureau's leadership.
Bongino, who is 50 years old, served with the Secret Service from 1999 to 2011. He joins newly appointed FBI Director Kash Patel in what some have described as a "dream team."
President Trump expressed his approval of Bongino's appointment through a post on Truth Social. He stated, “Great news for American law-enforcement and Justice! Dan Bongino, a man of incredible love and passion for our country has just been named the next deputy Director of the FBI, by the man who will be the best Director ever, Kash Patel.”
Trump further praised Bongino's background: “He was a member of the New York police department and a highly respected Special Agent With the United States Secret Service and is now one of the most successful podcasters in the country, something he is willing and prepared to give up to serve.”
In response to his new role, Bongino expressed gratitude towards President Trump, Kash Patel, and Pam Bondi.
