In a recent discussion with Glenn Beck, Sean Spicer recounted events surrounding his dismissal from certain boards by President Joe Biden in 2021. Spicer's term was due to end in November of that year, but he and other conservatives were removed in September. In response, Spicer initiated legal action against the Biden administration, intending to establish a legal precedent affirming the president's authority to dismiss board members.

Spicer explained that Stephen Miller from America First suggested the lawsuit as a strategy to force Biden into defending his right to fire appointees. The courts ruled in favor of the administration, confirming presidential powers regarding such dismissals.

This case has since been cited as a precedent following former President Donald Trump's decision to remove members of the Kennedy Center board. According to Spicer, this outcome aligns with their initial objective: "I obviously wasn’t going to get reappointed; Biden had his right to appoint his people, great."

The situation highlights ongoing discussions about presidential authority over appointments and dismissals on federal boards.
