Senator Tom Cotton is reportedly working to block the confirmation of Elbridge Colby, nominated by former President Donald Trump for the role of Under Secretary of Defense for Policy. Colby's nomination was announced in December alongside Pete Hegseth as the nominee for Defense Secretary.

Trump stated, "Elbridge 'Bridge' Colby will serve as Under Secretary of Defense for Policy." He described Colby as a "highly respected advocate" for his foreign and defense policy and noted his previous service at the Pentagon during Trump's first term.

Colby expressed gratitude for the nomination, stating it would be an "exceptional privilege" to work with Hegseth if confirmed by the Senate.

Charlie Kirk, CEO of Turning Point USA, criticized Senator Cotton's actions on social media, claiming they undermine Trump's vision for the Department of Defense. Kirk tweeted that Cotton is attempting to stop Colby's confirmation and questioned why Cotton would do so.

Other conservatives, including Elon Musk and various commentators on social media, have responded to these allegations against Senator Cotton. Questions were raised about Cotton's opposition to Colby and suggestions that he might be influenced or pressured.

Ben Smith from Semafor reported that Senator Cotton is actively opposing any acceptance of Iran's nuclear ambitions—a stance allegedly implied by Colby. A source close to Cotton stated, "Senator Cotton disagrees, opposes Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, and is addressing his policy concerns with the White House."

The Gateway Pundit has reached out to Senator Cotton’s office for comment regarding these developments.
