According to Campus Reform, Brown University Medical School places a high emphasis on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) when promoting faculty members. The promotion guidelines at the medical school list a "demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion" as a major criterion for several positions. This commitment is expected in areas such as research, teaching, clinical care, and service.

A surgeon expressed concerns about this focus to the Washington Free Beacon: "DEI in medical schools is all about. And it’s not about clinical performance."

The Association of American Colleges has organized seminars that promote DEI across various fields. Despite efforts by President Trump to counteract DEI initiatives, some educational institutions continue to prioritize these values.

Brown University's medical school features a webpage dedicated to diversity. It highlights the importance of multicultural perspectives for the institution's success.
