DeKalb County opens warming centers due to forecasted cold weather

Due to anticipated cold weather, DeKalb County will open four warming centers for residents on February 22 and 23. The centers will begin operating at 8 p.m. on both nights.

The designated locations are Frontline Response International at 2585 Gresham Road in Atlanta, North DeKalb Senior/Community Center at 3393 Malone Drive in Chamblee, Mason Mill Recreation Center at 1340 McConnell Drive in Decatur, and N.H. Scott Recreation Center at 2230 Tilson Road in Decatur.

Transportation to Frontline International will be available during the activation of these warming centers. Pickups will occur according to a set schedule from various locations including Chamblee Library, Avondale Fire Station No. 3, D&K Suit City Parking Lot, and Exchange Park Intergeneration Center.

Frontline Response International has been contracted to assist individuals during extreme weather conditions by providing hot meals, beds, and case management services. Transportation services are available from all warming centers to Frontline for those who wish to utilize these centralized services.

Residents needing homelessness assistance or housing services can contact DeKalb County Coordinated Entry at (404) 687-3500. More information about the centers is available on the DeKalb County website.
