DeKalb County opens warming centers due to forecasted cold weather

DeKalb County will open three warming centers around the clock due to expected cold weather, starting from 8 p.m. on February 19 until 8 a.m. on February 22. The locations are Frontline Response International at 2585 Gresham Rd., Mason Mill Recreation Center at 1340 McConnell Dr., and N.H. Scott Recreation Center at 2230 Tilson Rd., Decatur.

The North DeKalb Senior/Community Center, located at 3393 Malone Drive in Chamblee, will continue to operate as an overnight-only warming center. Special transportation will be provided each morning to one of the round-the-clock warming centers.

Transportation pickups for those needing access to Frontline International will be available according to a specific schedule. Additional times and dates may be added if necessary:

- Chamblee Library, located at 4115 Clairmont Rd., Chamblee: from 5:40 p.m. to 6 p.m.

- North DeKalb Senior/Community Center: from 7:30 p.m. to 7:50 p.m.

- Mason Mill Recreation Center: from 9 p.m. to 9:20 p.m.

- Avondale Fire Station No.3, located at 100 N. Clarendon Ave., Avondale Estates:

- Pick up No.1: from 6:20 p.m. to 6:40 p.m.

- Pick up No.2: from 7:30 p.m. to 7:50 p.m.

- At the location of Candler Rd.: from 8:40 p.m. to 9 p.m.

- D&K Suit City Parking Lot, situated at Memorial Dr., Stone Mountain:

- From Wesley Chapel Rd.: from 6:20 p.m. to 6:40 p.m.

- From Columbia Dr.: from Exchange Park Intergeneration Center, Decatur:

- From Wesley Chapel Rd.: from Exchange Park Intergeneration Center, Decatur:

- From Columbia Dr.: both times are set between the hours of either half-past eight or nine o'clock

Frontline Response International has been contracted by DeKalb County for assistance during extreme weather conditions, providing centralized services including hot meals and beds.

Residents in need of homelessness assistance or housing services can reach out by calling (404)687-3500 through DeKalb County Coordinated Entry.
