DeKalb County is set to open four warming centers on Thursday night, February 13, in response to the anticipated cold weather. The centers will begin operations at 8 p.m. and are located at Frontline Response International in Atlanta, North DeKalb Senior/Community Center in Chamblee, Mason Mill Recreation Center in Decatur, and Tobie Grant Recreation Center in Scottdale.
Transportation services will be available for residents who need assistance reaching Frontline International. The pickup schedule includes stops at Chamblee Library, North DeKalb Senior/Community Center, Mason Mill Recreation Center, Avondale Fire Station No. 3, 2027 Candler Rd., D&K Suit City Parking Lot, 2724 Wesley Chapel Rd., and Exchange Park Intergeneration Center.
Frontline Response International has been contracted by DeKalb County to provide centralized services during extreme weather conditions. "Unlike DeKalb’s traditional warming centers," the facility offers hot meals, beds, and case management services. Transportation from all county warming centers to Frontline is provided for those wishing to access these services.
Residents needing homelessness assistance or housing services can reach out to DeKalb County Coordinated Entry by calling (404) 687-3500. Additional information about the warming centers can be found on the DeKalb County website.
