The DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management is addressing a significant water main break on Clairmont Road near Dresden Drive. This incident affects approximately 8,800 households and 20,000 residents in the Toco Hills area and nearby neighborhoods. The break resulted from the age of the pipe, a cast iron structure installed in 1941.

Residents are experiencing low to no water pressure due to this issue. As repairs continue, many North Central DeKalb residents may temporarily lose water service to allow for draining the water tank and accessing the damaged pipe. The repair itself is expected to take less than two hours, but additional time will be needed to refill the water tank and restore normal service levels.

Residents are advised to conserve water until the problem is resolved. A precautionary boil water advisory may be issued, urging residents to boil any water intended for consumption until further notice. Bottled water distribution centers have been set up at several locations: Fire Station 1 at 1670 Clifton Rd., Fire Station 3 at 24 N. Clarendon Ave., Fire Station 7 at 1712 Columbia Dr., Fire Station 9 at 3858 N. Druid Hills Rd., Fire Station 20 at 2919 Warren Rd., and RaceTrac at 3630 Clairmont Rd.

For those experiencing issues or needing more information, contact can be made with the DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management via email at dekalbwaterops@dekalbcountyga.gov or by phone at 770-270-6243.

DeKalb County has committed to keeping residents informed throughout this process with regular updates through official county communication channels. They apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate the community's patience as they work diligently to restore service.

The DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management aims to provide reliable water and wastewater services while ensuring community health and safety through effective management of its infrastructure.
