CNN political analyst Scott Jennings commended Pete Hegseth for his conduct during the Senate hearings, despite facing intense scrutiny from Democratic senators Elizabeth Warren, Tim Kaine, and Mazie Hirono. Jennings remarked that Hegseth "kicked their asses" and emerged unscathed from the questioning.
Jennings criticized the behavior of the Democrats during the hearing, describing it as unprofessional. He expressed his views on CNN, stating, "In short, I think Pete Hegseth kicked their asses today. I mean, it wasn’t even close. They didn’t lay a glove on Hegseth. No mistakes. Calm, cool, collected."
Hegseth is considered one of President-elect Donald Trump's challenging nominees to confirm as defense secretary. However, Jennings argued that Hegseth was well-prepared for the attacks from Democratic senators.
Jennings also commented on Twitter/X about the performance of Democratic members on the committee: "They didn't lay a glove on Hegseth today. Why do Dems send their dumbest members to this important committee?"
The confirmation hearing has led many to believe that Hegseth is likely to be confirmed following his performance.
