A Minnesota pizzeria, Davanni's Pizza, is addressing a situation after a group of Republicans and Trump supporters were asked to leave one of its locations. The incident occurred over the weekend at the Edina branch, sparking discussions on social media.
Reports emerged that Republican staffers and activists were removed from the premises because the establishment did not permit political events. A tweet from "RINOs of MN" confirmed that individuals from SD50MNGOP were asked to leave with the explanation: “we don’t allow political events in our party room.”
Dalia al-Aqidi, a Republican Congressional candidate in Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, commented on the situation to The Gateway Pundit. She stated: "This was not a misunderstanding. The individual, who appeared to be a manager, repeatedly insisted that we leave, stating, 'Please leave now.' We were simply a group enjoying a meal after a Senate District convention... Despite our explanations, she refused to listen." Al-Aqidi emphasized the need for mutual respect despite political differences.
In response to calls for boycotting the restaurant, Davanni’s issued an apology and clarified their stance on inclusivity. Their statement read: "For 50 years, Davanni’s has been your neighborhood gathering place for quality food, community connection and making memories... Our team in Edina misunderstood a policy around fundraising efforts in our party rooms which resulted in an incident that impacted valued guests. We’re deeply sorry for the actions taken."
The company further assured that they are working on expanded training for team members to prevent future misunderstandings. According to their website, Davanni’s is a family-owned business with 19 locations employing over 900 people.
This incident is part of a broader trend where restaurants have faced similar situations across the country involving political disagreements.
