DeKalb County has announced the opening of four warming centers in response to forecasted cold weather. These centers will be available from Friday, December 20, through Monday, December 23, starting at 8 p.m. The locations are Frontline Response International on Gresham Road in Atlanta, North DeKalb Senior/Community Center in Chamblee, Mason Mill Recreation Center, and Exchange Recreation Center.
Transportation services will be provided to Frontline International from various pickup points. These include Chamblee Library and North DeKalb Senior/Community Center in Chamblee, Avondale Fire Station No. 3 in Avondale Estates, and other designated areas such as Decatur and Stone Mountain.
Frontline Response International is contracted to assist individuals during extreme weather by providing hot meals, beds, and case management services. This differs from traditional warming centers as these services are centralized at Frontline.
DeKalb County fire stations will not serve as overnight warming center locations. However, Avondale Fire Station No. 3 will operate as a transportation pickup site for those needing access to Frontline's services.
