DeKalb County announces advance voting details for December runoff elections

Some voters in DeKalb County will return to the polls for a General/Special Election runoff scheduled for Tuesday, December 3, 2024. This follows the general election where no candidate secured more than 50 percent of the vote, necessitating a runoff.

The election includes positions such as DeKalb County Commission District 3, DeKalb County Super District 7, Atlanta City Council Post 3 (At-Large), and Doraville City Council District 1 – Post 2 (At-Large). Only registered voters in these specific districts are eligible to participate. Voters can confirm their district status through the Georgia Secretary of State's website.

In District 3, Andrew W. Bell received 23.80% of votes while Nicole Massiah garnered 42.26%. For District 7, Jacqueline Adams had 45.98% and LaDena Bolton received 26.22%. In the race for Atlanta City Council Post 3 (At-Large), Eshé Collins earned 30.10% against Nicole "Nikki" Evans Jones' 35.18%. Taylor Ray obtained 33.28%, competing with Andy Yeoman's leading score of 41.08% for Doraville City Council District 1, Post 2.

Advance voting in DeKalb County is set from Saturday, November 23 to Wednesday, November 27 with varying polling hours each day.

Keisha Smith, executive director of DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections stated: “We encourage voters to learn more about who is on the ballot in the upcoming runoff and to make a plan to vote.” She added gratitude towards her team for their dedication in ensuring smooth voting operations.

Absentee ballot requests must be submitted by November 22 through www.DeKalbVotes.com under the absentee voting section. Completed ballots should be returned via drop box or mail by Election Day at specified locations including Bessie Branham Recreation Center and others listed with drop boxes noted where applicable.
