The DeKalb County Police Department has introduced a new app designed to facilitate anonymous tip submissions from residents via their smartphones. This initiative aims to enhance the department's crimefighting capabilities by enabling officers to engage in anonymous two-way conversations with the public.
The app, along with the tip411 anonymous text-a-tip system, ensures complete anonymity for users. The technology involved removes all identifying information before tips are viewed by police, ensuring that the sender cannot be identified.
"Our mission is to enhance the quality of life in DeKalb County by working with the community to preserve the peace and provide for a safe environment," stated DeKalb County Police Chief Mirtha V. Ramos. "We believe our new app will help us do just that by making it easier for our residents to engage with us to protect our community."
For those without a smartphone, tips can still be submitted anonymously via text message by sending the keyword DKPD followed by their message or tip to 847411 (tip411). Additionally, web-based anonymous tips can be submitted through the department’s website at www.dekalbcountyga.gov/police-services/dekalb-county-police-department.
The app is available for free download on both Google Play Store and iTunes App Store, as well as through the department's website.
