DeKalb County faced multiple bomb threats at seven locations, including five voting precincts. The DeKalb County Police Department is conducting bomb sweeps at these sites to ensure safety.

The affected precincts are New Bethel AME Church in Lithonia, New Life Community Center in Decatur, North DeKalb Senior Center in Chamblee, Reid H. Cofer Library in Tucker, and Wesley Chapel Library in Decatur. Additionally, the Stonecrest (Old Sam’s Club) location and Salem Panola Library in Lithonia were also targeted.

DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond stated, "Every asset that we have will be deployed to ensure that every citizen who wants to vote will be given that opportunity and every vote cast will be counted."

Keisha Smith, Executive Director of DeKalb Voter Registration & Elections (VRE), reassured voters: “Rest assured that we are working quickly to ensure every voter will have an opportunity to cast their ballot despite these bomb threats.” She added that voting at the impacted locations is suspended until clearance from police is obtained.

These measures aim to protect voters and poll workers. Once cleared, voting can resume at the affected facilities.

The DeKalb County Law Department is seeking an emergency order to extend voting times at the impacted polling stations.
