Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee, commenced a two-day campaign bus tour in Georgia alongside her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Their first stop was Liberty County High School in Hinesville, where they addressed members of the school band.

Harris delivered a speech on leadership and the future, emphasizing the importance of the students' contributions to the country. "So, you know, I’ve been hearing about you incredible young leaders for quite some time from the players to those who are bringing joy to everybody in the stands, to the music that you guys are creating," she said. "And so we wanted to come by just to let you know that our country is counting on you. All of you."

She continued by encouraging students to lead without seeking permission and highlighted their roles as models within their communities. "Understand you don’t have to ask anybody’s permission to lead. And I think you all figured that out," Harris stated.

A video clip of Harris's speech was posted by the Trump campaign with a caption questioning her approach: "Why is Kamala speaking to these high schoolers as if they’re toddlers?" The complete video shared by Forbes Breaking News indicated that Harris's comments were not taken out of context.

Despite having Walz by her side, Harris appeared animated and made extensive use of gestures during her address. She drew parallels between participating in a band and leadership skills: "All that practice makes for beautiful music and that is a metaphor...for everything that you all will do in your lives."

The event garnered reactions on social media, including from J.D. Vance who tweeted: “Me talking to my 2 year old.”
