Actor George Clooney reportedly became upset with an MSNBC producer last year following comments made on the show "Morning Joe" that connected former President Barack Obama to Clooney's New York Times op-ed urging President Joe Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race.

The op-ed by Clooney reportedly led major Democratic donors to withhold donations, successfully pressuring Biden to step aside. This sequence of events raised the question of whether Clooney was unknowingly manipulated.

During the "Morning Joe" segment, host Mika Brzezinski suggested Obama's potential role in influencing Clooney's op-ed regarding Biden's candidacy. Brzezinski argued, "This wasn’t George Clooney," and asserted, "I think that Barack Obama has a lot of influence." These statements reportedly triggered an angry response from Clooney towards the show's producer.

According to Whipple's account, Clooney confronted the producer with the question, "How the f— could you let her link me with Barack Obama saying he made me write the op-ed?"
