DeKalb County opens severe weather centers due to forecasted storms

DeKalb County is preparing for severe weather by opening four designated centers on Saturday, March 15, starting at 8 p.m. The forecast includes potential tornadoes, damaging winds, heavy rain, and hail.

The centers available to residents are Frontline Response International located at 2585 Gresham Road in Atlanta; North DeKalb Senior/Community Center at 3393 Malone Drive in Chamblee; Mason Mill Recreation Center at 1340 McConnell Drive in Decatur; and Exchange Park Intergeneration Center at 2771 Columbia Drive in Decatur.

Transportation to Frontline Response International will be provided from several locations according to a set schedule. Pickups will occur at the Chamblee Library, North DeKalb Senior/Community Center, Mason Mill Recreation Center, Avondale Fire Station No. 3, Candler Road in Decatur, D&K Suit City Parking Lot in Stone Mountain, Wesley Chapel Road in Decatur, and Exchange Park Intergeneration Center.

Frontline Response International is contracted to provide hot meals, beds, and case management services during extreme weather conditions. DeKalb County offers transportation from all severe weather centers to Frontline for those who wish to use these centralized services.
