A severe storm system is expected to impact DeKalb County overnight, bringing tornadoes, damaging winds, heavy rain, and hail. Residents are urged to take immediate precautions.

Authorities advise staying weather aware by charging devices and monitoring emergency alerts. It is important to have a safety plan and identify a safe space in your home. Residents should prepare for potential power outages by gathering flashlights, batteries, and essentials. Travel is discouraged overnight due to potentially dangerous road conditions. Those in need of shelter can access severe weather centers that opened at 8 PM.

DeKalb County has opened four severe weather centers on Saturday, March 15:

- Frontline Response International at 2585 Gresham Road, Atlanta

- North DeKalb Senior/Community Center at 3393 Malone Drive, Chamblee

- Mason Mill Recreation Center at 1340 McConnell Dr., Decatur

- Exchange Park Intergenerational Center at 2771 Columbia Dr., Decatur

Transportation assistance will be available from designated pickup locations across the county.

Individuals needing emergency shelter, meals, or case management will be assisted at Frontline Response International. For those requiring homelessness assistance, contact DeKalb County Coordinated Entry at (404) 687-3500.

"DeKalb County emergency teams are fully prepared to respond," but officials stress that "your safety starts with you." Residents are encouraged to prepare now rather than wait until the storm arrives.

For real-time updates, follow local news or call 911 in an emergency. Authorities emphasize the importance of taking precautions and seeking shelter if needed.
