Vice President J.D. Vance emerged as the winner of the 2025 CPAC Straw Poll for the 2028 Republican primary election, securing 61 percent of the vote. Steve Bannon, known as "Honey Badger," followed in second place with 12 percent, while Governor Ron DeSantis came in third with 7 percent.

The annual CPAC straw poll is a significant event at the conservative convention. For nine consecutive years, former President Trump dominated this poll. However, the upcoming 2028 election marks a transition as Trump passes leadership to the next MAGA candidate, making it the first substantial Republican primary since 2016.

J.D. Vance is gaining popularity among conservatives and MAGA supporters alike. He appeals to both grassroots activists and influential donors. Recently, he made headlines with his candid speech at the Munich Conference, where his straightforwardness reportedly moved European elites to tears.
