A former NFL punter, Chris Kluwe, was removed from a city council meeting in Huntington Beach, California, by police after making statements against President Donald Trump. Kluwe, who played for the Minnesota Vikings and UCLA Bruins, expressed his views during the meeting on Tuesday.
Kluwe criticized a MAGA plaque near the local library and stated his opinions on what he believes MAGA represents. "I'm gonna take my time to say what MAGA has stood for these past three weeks," Kluwe said.
He continued by asserting that "MAGA stands for trying to erase trans people from existence," among other claims. He further described MAGA as "profoundly corrupt" and "unmistakenly anti-democracy."
In a video shared on social media by Dov Kleiman, Kluwe can be seen being arrested and carried out of the meeting by police. The tweet included Kluwe's statement that "MAGA is explicitly a Nazi movement."
Kluwe concluded his remarks by stating his intention to engage in peaceful civil disobedience. However, his protest was short-lived as he was handcuffed by police officers.
The former football player has been charged with disrupting an assembly.
