Carville's remarks were directed at what he perceives as the misguided priorities of the Democratic Party, particularly those based in Washington.
In a statement reported by Mediaite, Carville criticized Democrats for embracing identity politics and being disconnected from broader public concerns. "What you’ve done ain’t worth a shit," he stated. He urged Washington-based Democrats to leave their comfort zones and engage more directly with grassroots campaigns: "Get your ass out of Washington, and go work on a 2026 campaign and do penance to make up for your goddamn arrogance and stupidity."
Carville also highlighted his opposition to certain policies that have been associated with the party's recent direction. He described these as part of a "stupid God damn identitarian mission" and referred to the era as one of "Jackassery." His comments reflect frustration with strategies like "Defund the Police," which he believes have not resonated with average Americans.
