The DeKalb County School District (DCSD) held its 11th Annual Academy of Educational Excellence Awards Gala on November 2 at the Georgia World Congress Center. The event recognized outstanding educators and support staff for their contributions, culminating in the announcement of five exceptional districtwide winners.

Superintendent Dr. Devon Q. Horton commended the honorees and their colleagues for the progress made by the district over the past year. "As I look back over this past school year and look at what the district has been able to accomplish, I can go on and on about the success of individual teachers, individual schools, areas, and collectively as a district," said Dr. Horton.

Dr. Horton further stated, "Collectively, we are making some significant moves and significant noise in the K-12 space, and it is because of the individuals sitting in this room. We appreciate all that you do."

The annual gala honors DCSD’s educators and support staff for their hard work, dedication, and achievements. These individuals have played a crucial role in advancing DCSD’s mission to provide quality education through innovative teaching methods, leadership, and support.

Sponsors for this year's gala included Coca-Cola, Georgia United Credit Union, Herff Jones, Lincoln Investment, Lowe&CO, and Voya.
