In 2023, the criteria for identifying and exiting federally designated schools were updated to a three-year cycle. However, exceptions remain for schools identified as CSI Graduation Rate and Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI). Recently, two schools have been removed from the CSI Graduation Rate list.

To exit this list, schools must achieve a four-year graduation rate of more than 67%. McNair High School and Clarkston High School have successfully met this requirement. This achievement highlights significant progress in student outcomes and instructional quality. The improvement is attributed to rigorous academic enhancement, targeted interventions, professional development, and data-driven strategies.

"We celebrate the work and academic accomplishments of our middle school staff and students," stated a representative. All DeKalb County School District middle schools currently meet or exceed state and federal standards.

TSI schools are identified by underperforming student groups based on CCRPI components such as Content Mastery, Progress, Closing Gaps, Readiness, and Graduation Rate. The DeKalb County School District has nine schools on the TSI list for the Students with Disability subgroup:

- Chapel Hill Elementary School

- Indian Creek Elementary School

- Oak View Elementary School

- Ronald McNair Discovery Learning Academy

- Rowland Elementary School

- Stone Mill Elementary School

- Toney Elementary School

- Towers High School

- Woodridge Elementary School

Despite challenges like staffing shortages and inconsistent leadership, efforts continue to ensure all DeKalb County scholars receive necessary support to excel academically. The district remains committed to staff development, enhancing communication with families, and improving progress monitoring.

Support continues for twelve previously identified CSI and ATSI schools from 2023. These schools may be eligible for removal from the lists in 2026 based on CCPRI results.

Confidence remains that investments approved by the Board of Education will yield positive academic outcomes. Improvements are already visible during district-led evaluations.

Further information about federal designations is available on the GaDOE website.
