Richard Platto, who began working for Dunwoody as Assistant Finance Director in June 2020, has been named the new Finance Director for the City of Dunwoody. He began serving as Acting Finance Director late last year when former Finance Director Linda Nabers stepped aside due to illness. She passed away earlier this month.
“Linda was a strong leader and great example to all of us,” said Mr. Platto. “She left a lasting legacy, and we’re determined to carry it on. I’m honored to serve Dunwoody in this new role.”
Since joining Dunwoody, Mr. Platto has been responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the finance team, including accounting, budgeting, purchasing, and reporting. Prior to joining Dunwoody, he worked as the Finance Director for the City of Doraville and the Controller for the City of Smyrna.
“I have every confidence that Richard will continue to provide outstanding service as the City’s new Finance Director,” said Dunwoody City Manager Eric Linton. “We all miss Linda and know that Richard and his team will maintain the high standards she set.”
Mr. Platto’s prior experience also includes work for Gwinnett County’s Department of Water Resources. In the private sector, he held positions with Southern Company, Siemens, Cox Communications and Deloitte & Touche. He earned a BBA in Accounting from Georgia State University.
In his free time, Mr. Platto enjoys reading, traveling, playing tennis and soccer, and cheering on Atlanta United. He’s married with two teenage children.
