The cities of Brookhaven, Chamblee and Doraville join forces to host Household Hazardous Waste event

The City of Brookhaven, in partnership with the City of Chamblee, and the City of Doraville, will host a household hazardous materials recycling event in collaboration with Live Thrive and Keep Chamblee Beautiful at the Plaza Fiesta parking lot, 4166 Buford Hwy (Enter from Dresden Drive), on March 18 from 9am-1pm.

The Household Hazardous Waste Drive is an appointment-only event and registration is only open to Brookhaven, Chamblee, and Doraville residents. Only households may use this event. No commercial, industrial, or business wastes or excessive quantities will be accepted. Live Thrive is responsible for proper recycling and disposal of all materials collected during the event.

The following materials will be accepted at the event:

  • Electronics–no large appliances or rear projection tv
  • Paint
  • Chemicals/Pesticides
  • Styrofoam
  • Plastic Film (must be clean and dry)
  • Textiles/Clothing (useable and unusable accepted)

Last year’s recycling event hosted by Brookhaven, Chamblee and partner Live Thrive diverted a total of 29,247 pounds of hazardous waste from the water system and landfills.

Live Thrive is a 501 (c) 3 that empowers people, organizations, universities, communities and businesses to make positive, healthy and sustainable changes to the environment through partnerships and community events. As part of its Sustainable Brookhaven initiative, the city has partnered with Live Thrive since 2021.
