Entering Auto - Arrests

Hc

On January 26, 2023 about 12:28am, officers responded to a call of an entering auto in progress at 2300 Peachford Rd (Sterling Apartments).  Officers arrived and began checking the area.  An officer checked the parking lot of Peachford Hospital at 2151 Peachford Rd and found the suspects actively breaking into cars.  They fled when the officer attempted to make contact with them.  The vehicle was located a short time later at Public Storage on N. Shallowford Rd at Peachford Rd.  The suspects were found climbing the fence behind the business.  A perimeter was established around the business and an officer apprehended one suspect while establishing the perimeter. The officer who apprehended him found a firearm on him.  A K-9 team from Brookhaven Police Department responded to assist with tracking the other four suspects.  The K-9 team and Dunwoody officers located the other four suspects hiding together.  One of the suspects ran on foot when they were found.  He was ordered to stop and did not comply.  The Brookhaven K-9 was deployed and apprehended the fleeing suspect.  He was transported to the hospital, treated for his injuries, and taken to DeKalb County Jail.

In total, 16 vehicles were entered at Sterling Apartments and Peachford Hospital. They attempted to break into three other vehicles but were not successful.  The vehicle they were driving was reported stolen.  Officers also recovered two stolen firearms along with multiple other items.

The offenders involved in this incident are as follows and facing multiple felony charges:

Kenneth Lester – 17 year old male
