Varsity Volleyball: Naya Ohuabunwa and Gracie Rose Are Named as "Super Six" Athletes

The Varsity Volleyball team finished last season as state champions. Despite losing two senior starters, they return a roster full of talent. Two members of the Spartans' roster, senior Naya Ohuabunwa and junior Gracie Rose, helped lead the Spartans during the 2021-2022 season. They were both given the distinction of being named by the Gwinnett Daily Post as "Super Six Athletes" for the 2022-2023 season.

Out of all the schools in Gwinnett County, six players are selected each year to represent the best volleyball talent for the upcoming season.

Naya Ohuabunwa had the game winning point during the state championship match last season, and she added 399 kills, 320 digs, 38 aces and 13 blocks to her statistical total as well. Other accolades for Naya include All-County and All-Area selections last year.

As a sophomore in 2021, Gracie Rose played a very impactful role on the team. Her season totals included 407 kills, 110 aces (.951 serving percentage), 329 digs, 47 assists and 26 blocks. Gracie also was named as the Class AAA MVP, All-State, All-County and Area MVP.

Under the direction of Head Coach Rachel Vanderpol, Naya Ohuabunwa and Gracie Rose will attempt to guide the Spartans to back-to-back state titles, alongside their teammates. Congratulations to both athletes, and come see the Spartans play at the Long Forum this season.
