The DeKalb County School District (DCSD) has announced its first-ever Military Student Swearing-In Ceremony to honor about 200 students who have committed to serving in the United States Armed Forces. Scheduled to be held at Miller Grove High School in Lithonia on April 24, the event will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
DCSD Superintendent Dr. Devon Q. Horton expressed pride in these students, saying, “We are incredibly proud of these students who have chosen to serve our nation, and we fully support them as they begin this significant chapter in their lives.” This event aligns with the district’s dedication to preparing students with skills and plans for their future, including military enlistment, further education, or entering the workforce.
The ceremony aims to underscore the community's connection with its schools. Attendees will include families, district officials, educators, school staff, business partners, and community leaders, all showing support for the future service members.
Media representatives are invited to cover the event, with interviews available upon request.
