The DeKalb County School District (DCSD) has recognized the academic accomplishments of its Class of 2025 by designating 26 valedictorians and 26 salutatorians. These students have demonstrated excellence and leadership throughout their academic careers.
Dr. Devon Q. Horton, Superintendent of the DeKalb County School District, expressed his admiration for the students, stating, “I congratulate these remarkable scholars as they celebrate this impressive milestone in their lives. Their hard work, curiosity, and perseverance have led to this moment. I am confident that as each embarks on their next journey, they will pursue their paths with the same vigor and determination that has led them here. We can’t wait to see all they will achieve!”
In accordance with Board Policy IHDA, the valedictorian honor is awarded to the student with the highest cumulative grade point average, while the salutatorian is the student with the second-highest. These honors are finalized following the posting of first-semester grades. In cases of ties, multiple students are recognized.
The list of valedictorians and salutatorians include Morgan E. Spruill and Makaylah I. Deshield from Arabia Mountain HS (Magnet); Kennedy D. Winfrey-Gay and Nzingha S.
