An attack occurred in the Ukrainian region of Sumy on Sunday, targeting the congress center of Sumy State University. The incident involved two ballistic missiles, leading to significant explosions and a subsequent column of smoke. The strike took place during what some termed an 'Easter celebration,' with leaders such as Volodymyr Zelensky, France's Emmanuel Macron, and the UK's Keir Starmer condemning it.

Contrastingly, certain Ukrainian politicians have acknowledged that the missiles struck during an advertised military ceremony for the 117th Territorial Defense Brigade. The Mayor of Konotop has criticized the regional military administration's leadership, calling for resignations and labeling the attack as both a tragedy for the military and civilians present.

Ukrainian MP Maryana Bezuglaya and former MP Igor Mosiychuk have voiced strong reactions. Bezuglaya urged against gathering troops for awards in civilian areas, citing security risks. Mosiychuk expressed his anger at regional authorities for mixing military personnel with civilians, including children, during the event.

These discourses underscore the tension in separating military activities from civilian spaces in a conflict where safety zones are increasingly uncertain.
