A Wisconsin judge has declined to grant an emergency injunction requested by the state attorney general to prevent Elon Musk from distributing $1 million checks to two Wisconsin voters before the upcoming state Supreme Court election. Musk, the owner of X, aims to garner support for conservative Supreme Court candidate Brad Schimel.

Musk plans to speak in Wisconsin on Sunday to endorse Schimel and present two individuals as "spokespeople" with $1 million each. Additionally, the Tesla founder is offering $100 to voters who sign his petition against "activist judges."

Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul initiated a lawsuit, arguing that Musk’s financial incentives contravene Wisconsin's election laws, which forbid offering anything valuable to sway voter behavior.

"The Wisconsin Department of Justice is committed to ensuring that elections in Wisconsin are safe, secure, free, and fair," Kaul stated in response to Musk’s promotional offer. "We are aware of the offer recently posted by Elon Musk to award a million dollars to two people at an event in Wisconsin this weekend," he added.

Musk responded to the legal challenge by emphasizing the checks were linked to participation in a petition rather than voting. "On Sunday night, I will give a talk in Wisconsin. To clarify a previous post, entrance is limited to those who have signed the petition in opposition to activist judges," Musk stated.

The planned event in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. CT will be limited to participants who have signed the petition. The event will be livestreamed on . Musk reiterated that he would distribute the million-dollar checks to two participants as part of the spokesperson initiative for the petition.

Kaul has indicated his intention to appeal the court's decision.
