If Kamala Harris decides to pursue the governorship of California, she may face competition from Ric Grenell, a known ally of former President Donald Trump. Grenell, who was recently appointed as the interim executive director of the Kennedy Center by Trump and played a significant role in securing the release of six Americans from Venezuela, has expressed interest in running for governor should Harris enter the race.

According to Breitbart News, Richard Grenell stated he would consider running for governor if Kamala Harris does so as well. He shared with reporters at the Munich Security Conference that Harris carries "such baggage" and that educating voters about her could give a Republican candidate an opportunity in California. Grenell remarked, “If Kamala Harris runs for governor... it's a new day in California and that the Republican actually has a shot.”

A survey by Emerson College Polling/Inside California Politics/The Hill indicates strong support for Harris among Democratic primary voters in California, with 57 percent backing her hypothetical gubernatorial bid.

The potential candidacy of Grenell has stirred reactions on social media. KT McFarland tweeted her willingness to campaign for him, describing him as "one of the finest, most talented, hardworking people I've ever known." Others echoed similar sentiments urging Grenell to run.

Grenell's consideration to run comes amid speculation about significant changes in California's political landscape should both candidates decide to enter the gubernatorial race.
