Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki recently engaged in a conversation with Jon Stewart regarding the role of MSNBC and its perceived alignment with the Democratic Party. Psaki, who now hosts a show on MSNBC, stated, "No. We determine, each of us for our shows, here’s what I’m going to cover today, and here’s what I’m going to talk about, and here’s what I think is important." She argued that MSNBC does not serve as a mouthpiece for the Democratic Party.

Stewart challenged this view by suggesting that MSNBC hosts are influenced by the "minute by minute" news cycle. He further noted that former Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes had successfully positioned Fox News as a voice for the Republican Party while maintaining strict editorial control.

Both Psaki and Stewart acknowledged that Fox News has become closely associated with the Republican Party. However, Psaki maintained that MSNBC operates differently, sometimes to the frustration of elected Democrats.

Stewart remarked on the need for MSNBC to adopt a more ideological approach similar to Fox News. Despite these differing perspectives, Psaki emphasized her autonomy in choosing content for her show.

The discussion highlights ongoing debates about media bias and network affiliations with political parties.
